The San Juan Children's Choir has been selected to participate in the prestigious Rimini International Choral Competition, in Italy, that will be held from the 25th to the 28th of September 2014. In this event a select group of students from the San Juan Children's Choir will have the opportunity to participate alongside choirs from Russia, Poland, Slovenia, United Kingdom, and Italy among others.
The San Juan Children's Choir was invited to sing during the 2013 Presidential Inauguration festitivies for President Barack Obama. The Choir sang a patriotic medley of hymns that included "America, the Beautiful" on the stage of the Kennedy Center Opera House in the Latino Inaugural Ball, an event that was also transmitted live into millions of homes across the nation. Throughout the Choir's visit to the capital, they were able to spend time with Marta Casals Istomin, who gave them words of encouragement and congratulated them for their artistry.
Evy Lucío, the founder of the San Juan Children's Choir, here portrayed with opera great, Pavarotti, set out to create a children's choir for Puerto Rico that would meet and surpass the expectations of greats like Pavarotti. The idea of the Choir itself is a reflection of the rich artistic and musical tradition of Puerto Rico. It was at the dawn of the Cassals Festival that Pablo Cassals himself urged Evy Lucío to create the San Juan Children's Choir.
The San Juan Children's Choir voices have charmed the airwaves and televesion screens across America and the world. The choir members inevitably change over the years, but the commitment to the wellrounded preparation of their young members and to the highest standards of artisitic production result in a consistent awe inspiring performances.
